At Laughton J&I School we believe in Pupil Voice and ensure that all our pupils have a say in how they want their school to run.
At the beginning of the school year we have an Assembly on School Council and the importance of the pupils taking a lead on developing our school. Following discussion on citizenship and democracy we hold School Council Elections with a School Ballot Day at our Polling Station. Pupils get to vote on two Councillors from their class to speak for them at meetings. The School Council will then meet and discuss roles within the Council and then vote as to who will carry out those responsibilities. The challenge is then for the pupils to formulate ideas from their class and bring to the School Council for discussion and then to engage others to make this happen. The School Council will be representatives of the School and will attend events when invited to show the best of Laughton J&I.
