Hello my name is Mr. Parker and I would like to welcome you to Year 4. I would also like to introduce you to Miss. Mosely who is the teaching assistant in Year 4 and mainly works on a 1-1 basis with some of our most vulnerable children.

In Year 4 we link different areas of the curriculum through our topic work. Some of the topics that we cover include:

-What life was like for children during WW2.

-The Romans

-Water and the Water Cycle

-States of Matter

-Sound

-Magnets and Electricity

We mainly follow the White Rose Hub curriculum for Maths and link our Maths work across the curriculum where possible.

We also aim to link the texts that we study in English to our topics. We teach weekly units based on these texts over a half term. Some of the texts that we study include:

-When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit (Judith Kerr)

-Escape from Pompeii (Christina Balit)

-Toad Rage (Morris Gleitzman)

-The Firework Makers Daughter (Phillip Pullman)

-The Iron Man (Ted Hughes)

In Year 4 we also having swimming lessons at the local swimming baths and we work with Mrs. Thompson-Smith from the Rotherham Music Service learning to play the ukulele.
