Hello, I'm Miss Jackson and I would like to welcome you to the fabulous Year 6. In this class we are really lucky to have Mrs Brammer, Mrs Holden and Mrs Procter helping and supporting us with our learning.
In Year 6 we cover a variety of topics including Evolution, the Vikings and an exciting Residential trip to Whitby. We value the importance of reading through all areas, whilst still ensuring we have a 'Love of Reading'. This includes sharing a daily class story. With writing we ensure there is a specific purpose and audience for each piece whether we are emailing a friend or writing to Mrs Hill. As a school we follow the White Rose Maths scheme, which allows us to really master each aspect of learning before moving on to the next.
Even though we have SATs tests this year, we value the importance of a well-rounded learning experience including real-world problems. We have recently looked at homelessness and the importance of our Emergency Services including the RNLI.
Another part of our Year 6 learning is preparing for our next school. We spend a lot of time working on independence and our organisational skills as well as experiencing the transition activities and days to our chosen secondary schools.
